Dementia Care

The Alzheimer's society has said that 225,000 will develop dementia in 2019. That’s one every three minutes.

Currently, there are 850,000 people with dementia in the UK, and the numbers are set to rise to over 1 million by 2025.

Our home care services not only allow those suffering with dementia to retain their independence, but is also extremely beneficial in delaying the effects of the disease.

A diagnosis of Alzheimer’s and dementia can be a very challenging time the patient as well as their family members. Yowsun Care ensures that respect and compassion are of equal importance to the service and responsibility we undertake.

Through our experience of working with people living with dementia, we have developed our own resources and up to date training, to assist our care givers in providing best practice services at every stage of the condition, ensuring our clients remain as active and engaged for as long as possible.

Typical techniques we incorporate in our Dementia Care packages include:

Encouraging clients to keep a diary of appointments and to-dos

Putting labels on doors and cupboards

Storing important items in the same place

Labelling of family photographs

Place important numbers by the phone where they can be referred to easily

Write reminders to lock doors, turn off gas and carry out simple safety procedures

Encourage family members to lack away hazardous substances and chemicals dangerous to health

We ensure that our care givers engage and stimulate the minds of our clients, living with dementia, under their care. We have a table of activities that care givers can offer clients to help them be more active and improve their memory.

As with all our services, we carefully select a member of our team to care for your loved one, based not only on professional experience but also their personality and interests. Familiarity is essential to any carer relationship and is particularly important when treating those with dementia, as such we will try our best to ensure the same care giver visits your home regularly.
